“Racial tensions won’t get better; they may get worse, because people will feel as if they’ve got to compete with some other group to get scraps from a shrinking pot,” President Obama said.
Apparently not only blacks and browns are competing for scraps, a new report says that 4 out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near-poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives. That number reflects a whole lot of white people too.
That elusive American dream remains just that- a dream. Their real world, during their non-sleep hours, is filled with angst, worry and depression. The Associated Press points to ‘an increasingly globalized U.S. economy, the widening gap between rich and poor, and the loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs as reasons for the trend.’
So what are the lawmakers in DC going to do about this?
2. same-sex marriage
3. immigration reform
4. repealing laws
What is the President going to do? Give speeches.
Have a nice summer.
