Bible Belt’s Misogynic Propensity is Disgusting

The Bible Belt.  Oh-so-holy.  Surely, holier-than-thou! They love Jesus. They love the Hebrew God. They love marriage. Too bad they hate women.

The reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act was passed today in the House with no help from the Bible Belt.

BibleBelt

Praise Jesus! Amen! Thank god that Ohio is spared although we have lots of bible-thumpers up here in the Buckeye State.

Today’s NAY votes indicated that the congressional representative did not believe that violence against women needed to be reauthorized.  Either the congressman doesn’t ‘believe’ there is any in his district or he doesn’t see the need to involve the government with this problem. Or, he himself is anti-women.  Duh.

Here is the vote from the righteous Bible Belt:

TEXAS 27 NAY  7 YEA

LOUISIANA  3 NAY  3 YEA

MISSISSIPPI  2 NAY  2 YEA

ALABAMA  5 NAY  2 YEA

SOUTH CAROLINA  5 NAY  1 YEA

GEORGIA  9 NAY 5 YEA

NORTH CAROLINA  7 NAY  5 YEA

TENNESSEE  7 NAY  2 YEA

KENTUCKY  4 NAY  2 NAY

MISSOURI  5 NAY  2 YEA

ARKANSAS  4 NAY  0 YEA

OKLAHOMA 4 NAY  1 YEA

Then there are the ‘godless’ liberal northern states:

MASSACHUSETTS  0 NAY  9 YEA

ILLINOIS  2 NAY  15 YEA

NEW YORK  0 NAY  26 YEA

NEW JERSEY  2 NAY  10 YEA

MINNESOTA  1 NAY  10 YEA

God bless America!

  1. I’ve been reading about the Supreme Court Challenge to the Voting Rights act and it would seem that the same vaguely inflamed reddish area on your map is the same part of America now claiming that racism is a thing of the past, we don’t need no stinkin voting rights laws, now keep walking.

    1. I’ll wait for some information about this holier-than-thou region of the U.S. from UptheFlag who lives deep in the heart of it. Maybe he can help us understand why the area is an all-male, all-white fiefdom alive and flourishing here in the 2nd decade of the 21st century.

  2. My anti-union, now a early retired rich person former union teacher, sister has the free time (and $) to go out of the Country on Church sponsored mission trips. When she gets back from her latest trek, I’m gonna suggest she either volunteer down at the Toledo Y.W.C.A. or at one of the religious order sponsored battered women’s shelters.

(Did I mention how much she loves Bob Latta?)

    1. Church-sponsored trips? Is she helping to nourish, clothe and provide medical care to the pagan babies there? Or is she only interested in their immortal souls?

Further, does she believe that there are no suffering people in the inner city of Toledo? You know, the takers?

Does she in her parochial view believe like Latta: that there is no problem with battered women here in the 5th congressional district of Ohio?
