Three Manure Lessons Rolled into One

This was emailed to me by a faithful but shy reader of this blog.  I believe that it has some very valuable lessons especially for politicians as well as political pundits.

——————————————————————————————————–
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.

——————————————————————————————————–
While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

——————————————————————————————————–
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story:

(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you’re in deep shit, it’s best to keep your mouth shut!

  1. Hello Sepp,
In a very kind way, I really am interested in your thoughts on my reply when I found out you are Croatian. Are you Croatian or just from Croatia? I mean are you Croatian, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovenia, Serb, etc. What group of people in Split are so tall (like 6’-5”) with very dark hair? I am thinking that they were Bosnians, decedents of the Ottoman Turks that invaded north so many years ago? I know Bosnians are Muslims but Muslims drinking alcohol in a bar?

Was all of the trouble stemming from the Bosnian Muslims siding and helping the German Nazis during WWII and Roman Catholic Croats and Serbs being backed by Communist Russia? If I remember correctly, the Bosnians believe that Serbs and Croats have no right to the area and that the country belongs exclusively to the Bosnian Muslims, aka Bosniaks. Maybe it goes all the way back to the middle ages and the crusades?

What happened in the bar when I was in Split, do you think that it was a Serb Christian coming into a Bosnian Muslim bar? Was this not the reason that the extremist of both sides tried to exterminate each other over so many years with the latest being in the 1990’s? After Tito died the country of Yugoslavia just imploded in on itself.

I really would like your thoughts that could shed some local perspective light on this.
