The Alternate Reality Bizarro Inauguration

Congrats To The GOP On Reagan’s Ninth Term In OfficeImage
I try to admit when I was wrong. And I was wrong about you guys. Since we’re all going to watch Ronald Reagan inaugurate his ninth term tonight, I thought it would be a great time to come clean. You Republicans did it. You absolutely dominated presidential politics for the last three decades, because your policies worked. No question.
Even Reagan himself – how good he looks for his age (What is he, 102 years old?). It’s a testament to your genius. When you announced massive deregulation of the healthcare industry in this country, I thought it was a terrible idea. I thought it would result in a nation of desperately poor sick people filling up our emergency rooms so pharmaceutical companies could gouge us. I didn’t understand that when you just get the government off people’s backs, you unleash productivity. The results are the kind of powerful, cheap technologies that can keep us all alive well into our second century. Wow! It’s just like with your other deregulation measures. We now have full employment, great housing, and a middle-class standard of living that’s the best in the world. Tomorrow I’m taking a trip to Disneyworld-Kabul in my new Chrysler Patriot – it’s a flying car that runs entirely on gumption. Imagine that. I’m going to celebrate by listening to that new Peggy Noonan book on the Pope; the neural-speakers that beam her words directly into your head come standard. What a country! I don’t mind admitting my mistakes. Because you and the Gipper have done so much good for us all.
Many of your ideas were counterintuitive to me; that’s why I resisted them I guess. I didn’t think if you let everyone carry a loaded firearm and stockpile automatic weapons it could possibly be safe for our parks and schools. I didn’t think we could continue a policy of military intervention all over the world without creating a security nightmare. I didn’t think you could lower taxes without massive deficits. I didn’t believe global warming would go away on its own, or that women would be happier if we repealed Roe v. Wade. And I definitely didn’t think we could cure gay people with the power of prayer.
I am perfectly willing to admit I was nuts. Nuts about all this. You people in the GOP were smarter than I was. And to my friends in the Democratic party, who will watch the inauguration of our first half-android president with nothing but bitterness and a determination to sabotage the government… I just want to say this:
You’ve been losing, because you’re out of touch. You need to face facts. You need to live in the real world, not this ideological fantasy you’ve created. You need to grow the hell up.

(note, I had a lot of trouble getting wordpress to do what I want…I’m not familiar with the format yet…I tried to publish this 4 times and the final version disappeared somehow…I wanted to make sure that the source for the original piece I adapted it from got credit, a writer named Paul Bibeau who has a great blog called Goblinbooks)

I Want To Thank You!

This is the video I could not post last year about the Touareg tribal villagers outside of Timbuktu in Mali. These are the people that the group I have been working with, GCAM, has been involved with for over 30 years now. The video was created by my buddy and neighbor, Marius, who organized the intertribal donkey exchange and walked across the Sahara with his friend, Mark Aardenburg, who is a Dutch documentary film maker who has made many great films with his little production company, MovieTron. The reason I could not post this film, which has been shown on PBS and the History Channel in America, was because the people in the film were trying to stay alive in the midst of the political insanity in Mali. The Islamist Group, AQMI has a big presence on the internet and they really monitor and try to keep track of what is said and posted about them. The people in this film, if they had been identified, would have been marked for death. Many of them were under a fatwah just because they had associated with Europeans. So the aim of GCAM was to get them out of Mali as safely and as quickly as possible. Finally, and thanks to everyone who inhabits this blog who donated to the effort, on December 28th, the last group of villagers made it to the UNHRC camp in Burkina Faso. One of the heros of the effort was a 18 year old kid, who was child when this video was made and who made the trip 4 times to make sure all of his family members were located and safely escorted across the Sahara. It was very dangerous for him, because being a young man, he would have been a prime target to be abducted by the AQMI Militants to be used as fodder, a human shield so to speak in the upcoming struggle between the African Coalition and AQMI to reclaim Mali. What we did was not political. The initial conflict was inspired by a Touareg group who wanted to create an independent Touareg State in Northern Mali. This led to the situation that the Al Qaeda Coalition, AQMI has exploited to seize most of Mali. Last week, the president of Mali, who actually was a quite well known physicist who worked with NASA, was seized as he tried to flee the country to asylum in France.  These people are not involved in political activity, but because their peaceful non violent traditional life style was in conflict to the fundamentalist AQMI group, they were seen as a threat and are being systematically massacred.
What we ended up doing was many trips, funded by the money we raised on the internet taking small groups in cars across the Sahara to Burkina Faso. The big UNHRC camp in Burkina Faso now has 75,000 refugees living there, but they are being provided for and protected by the UN with a pretty sophisticated infrastructure and provided with food and water.
So, the best thing I can do for you now, is to post this great documentary and thank you so much for making this possible. We raised almost 7,000 Euros from the internet and every centime went to make this possible.
Please, accept my most sincere wish for a wonderful 2013, good health and peace. I believe that if you really want something to happen and you remain focused and don’t ask for too much, you will probably succeed. Your good actions always come back to you. Merci Beaucoup, tout le monde!

Excuse My Nasty Little Mouth, S’il Tu Plait……

So blah, blah, blah, blah…The Fox Propaganda Hysterical Dysfunctional un Education service tried to co opt the Westboro Baptist Church ritual profanation of the first funeral held of the victims of the Newtown School Massacre. They referred to the Westboro members as a “Left Wing” Cult. Don’t even  consider going there if you are in my immediate proximity. This is more than a warning,  consider this a threat.

btw,I crossed published this from my blog, and I censored my original title for your delicate sensibilities….

Bikers seem to have thwarted attempts by the Westboro Baptist Church to
protest the funeral of Newtown, CT shooting victim Principal Dana Hochsprung
The Fox Propaganda idiocy was trying to take advantage of the fact that a group of bikers had turned up to provide security and intimidation against the Westboro Jackasses. Obviously, Fox somehow believes that bikers are part of their brainwashed stoned out and senile base. I know a lot of “bikers” and though some might fit into a preconceived image that FOX somehow tries to promote, most of the real bikers I know think FOX NEWS SUCKS!
We all know what The Westboro “Baptist” Church really is. A hate organization that uses the guise of religious freedom to shield themselves and profit from litigation. It is pretty well organized con operation and we are all victims. So, I applaud the efforts of the Anonymous  Group in their fight against them, but you can do something as well, legally. Add your name to these two White House Petitions to demand that the Westboro Church be recognized for what they really are and have their tax exempt religious protection retroactively removed…That’s the only thing these asswipes really understand… There are already more than enough signatures for consideration, but a few million more couldn’t hurt!
Just sign, what could be more easier? Sign or just stop whining…I don’t wanna hear it!

Hart Intercivic

ImageHart Intercivic? What’s that? Why, that is the Tech Company that manufactures the E voting machines used in Ohio and a few other states now. Yes, we all have our suspicions about the reliability and flawed software about electronic voting and how it has been hacked in previous elections. Why do we even need them? They seem to cause more problems than they purport to solve, even when they function correctly. In fact, they are banned in most democratic countries. We still have clear glass or plastic ballot boxes here in France and the public is invited to witness the vote counting procedure.

Hart Intercivic Technologies was recently acquired as a “strategic investment” by a Company called H.I.G. Capital which is directly controlled by the Romney/Bain Investment team and a partner with Solamere Capital, the investment group the Romneys are involved in and under investigation at the present time for unethical business practices, even though they are trying desperately to cover it up before the election This trail leads directly to Tagg Romney.

This seems to be a pattern followed by many of the Bain Capital Alumni who are the money bundlers for the Romney campaign. They are all involved in the E Voting business. This seems to be a repeat of the involvement of Wally O’Neil, the former CEO of Diebold, who raised money for Bush while supplying the infamous Diebold E Voting Machines and hackable software in the 2004 election.

Demand a traceable, physical paper ballot if you can. You can now vote early in Ohio after the Court Ruling earlier this week. I would urge everyone to encourage all concerned Ohioans to vote early and on paper! I voted early as an overseas voter last week.

A Little Goes A Long Way

Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of 9/11. I have written too much about my own personal experience in Lower Manhattan that day and the subsequent slow painful loss of friends who died from the after effects. I was very lucky and though I was stuck in Lower Manhattan for a week longer than I expected to be, because of the disruption of transportation, I was soon in the crystal clear atmosphere of the Northern Dordogne. For many Americans, 9/11 was a trap door into a world of isolationist hate. A door into a pit of a closed mind, a corner which a wounded beast cowered, licking its wounds and dreaming of revenge. For me, it was a life changing experience, I resolved to let it open the doors to the rest of the world. I wanted to learn about Islam and the diverse portion of the earths population who define themselves with this broad theosophy. I’ve learned that Islam is as diverse if not more diverse than Christianity. There are fundamentalists who would force others to accept their beliefs by what ever means that they think they can get away with in both worlds. I know I can make a difference.

I am still very much involved in promoting the work of Groupe Coordination Aude Mali with my friends who are passionately involved in the effort. I still have the paypal button on my blog and I would like to thank, personally, everyone who donated through this blog, MikeB32000, and Squatlo Rants. We raised enough money to get a few trucks of refugees across 1,000 kilometers of the Sahara to Mauritania and Burkina Faso, but of course, even though a little goes a long way in the desert, there is still much to do. I posted a piece on my blog, thebrainpolice with some great videos from UNCHR showing the conditions in the camps in both Mauritania and Burkina Faso. They are fairly recent, from last week. Agan, thank you so much for everything you have done!Image

Groupe Coordination Aude Mali

ImageI have been trying to assist a small NGO group that has been working with a Malian Touareg tribe for the last 25 years. They directly assist with water, agricultural, educational and cultural projects. One of coordinators is one of my oldest and best friends. He actually led a caravan of donkeys across the Sahara and made a documentary which was shown in the USA on PBS and the History Channel called Donkey Caravan to Timbuktu. I would have loved to post it, but at this time, to post it and give it too much internet presence would mark the tribesmen in documentary for death. Just this last weekend, the Algerian Islamist Al Qaeda Coalition AQMI effectively seized control of 2/3 of Mali. The Touaregs had been leading the opposition to the AQMI coup d’etat. The immediate need is to get as many of these people out of Mali as quickly as possible. My friends are on the ground in Mauritania and Burkina Faso setting up camps, but they desperately need the basic tools for survival. Food, transportation and fuel.

On my blog, thebrainpolice, I have tried to provide as much background as I can safely get away with. We have also established a PayPal donations site. The button is on the side of my blog. There is also a link for a great cd called Music for Desert Refugees released earlier this summer by the English label Glitterhouse. Malian music is world reknown and the proceeds from this project go directly to 2 other NGO groups working on the ground in both Mauritania and Burkina Faso. If you donate anything, a few bucks…you will be saving lives and I humbly thank you.

I realize that we all so much on our plates these days, but any donation will be used by people who know how to make your donation work to save lives now. Time is of the essence here.
